Internship Opportunities
Communications Intern
The Hunger Project (THP) is seeking an intern to support its work in media and communications. The intern will contribute to The Hunger Project's objectives of reaching out to new audiences and engaging current and potential investors with compelling information online; and facilitating the success of our largest fundraising event of the year.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Editing and posting stories on the public website
- Creating issue briefs and fact sheets
- Supporting social media outreach efforts
- Preparation and dissemination of communications materials including press releases and event materials.
- Archiving and disseminating resulting media coverage.
- Research of media and contacts in the development community.
- Support and participation in the Fall Event weekend (October 22-23, 2010).
- Other communications tasks as required.
We would like the intern to work about 15-20 hours per week beginning in September 2010.
Qualifications
The intern must:
- be committed to the mission of The Hunger Project
- have excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills
- be a team player, flexible and willing to contribute in any way needed
- be resourceful and able to work independently
- be detail-oriented and committed to accuracy
- have knowledge, through employment or academic concentration, of issues relating to hunger and poverty in the developing world.
Compensation
This internship is unpaid. Course credit may be available.
